Highly competent speakers approached this year’s APSC, which specifically targeted ski resort owners and managers. Topics like planning of ski areas as well as the collaboration between existing areas where discussed. Blengini showed which factors have to be considered when choosing an area to develop as ski resort and practically gave insight on the existing development plan of the Kanas area in NW China. Marzola brought the example of Dolomiti Superski in the Alpine Dolomites, where many little owners collaborate in a carusel. Halvardsson explained the success factors of Skistar, where one owner has linked 5 different and geographically distant ski destinations into one group. Finally, Clemens Lindig, summarized the ideas his fellow speakers gave to briefly show how an access control system supports the aggregation of ski resorts and what other positive effects such a system can have on cutting down costs and expanding marketing activities. The audience much appreciated the contents of the speeches, as underlined by the numerous questions and spontaneous comments.
