‘Prowinter 09’, the International Fair for Winter Sports Services and Ski Renting Equipment held for the 9th time from April 15th -17th within the ‘Bolzano Fair’ plans to put together an important seminar next spring under the high authority of the International Ski Federation (FIS) to support its important promotional campaign ‘Bring Kids Back to Snow’ launched over a year ago to attract more people from the younger generations onto the snow fields. Key partners of ‘Prowinter 09’ including representatives of major ski resorts, ski producers and lifts companies will be invited to attend the meeting in Bolzano and share their ideas and visions on this crucial matter.
In autumn 2007, the FIS President, Mr. Gian Franco Kasper, took the initiative of launching an intense promotional campaign towards youngsters who are not so attracted by winter sports anymore. Mr. Kasper invited all the partners concerned by winter sports activities – such as media, producers of winter sport material, ski resorts, national ski federations - to join forces to support the FIS ‘Bring Kids back to Snow’ campaign encouraging winter sports activities in families, schools, ski clubs and other social areas.
In several countries, the traditional ‘Ski Weeks’ organised by numerous schools all over Europe were discontinued in recent years, creating a major loss for the snow sports and tourism industry while hundredths of thousands of young skiers missed a chance to discover winter sports. They looked for other leisurely activities instead, turning to less healthy forms of entertainment not practised, like skiing, in the open air.
The first results of the FIS campaign will be presented and discussed at the end of May at Dubrovnik, in Croatia, during the next FIS Spring Conference Meetings. The nomination of Mr. Kasper as Chairman of the Coordination Commission for first ‘Winter Youth Olympic Games’ planned at Innsbruck in 2012 will strongly reinforce the position of the FIS in its important initiative in favour of the younger generations. “I am delighted about my nomination to guide the Coordination Commission for the first Winter Youth Olympic Games,” said recently Mr. Kasper at Innsbruck while visiting the Tyrolean capital in company of Mr. Jacques Rogge, President of the I.O.C. “I hope to complete this task
successfully and in great cooperation with the Austrian organisers while fulfilling the goals of the Olympic Movement. The Youth Olympic Games are yet another piece nicely fitting into the FIS campaign of Bring Children to the Snow.”
The management of the International Fair for Winter Sports Services and Ski Renting Equipment at Bolzano, where over 200 companies from 15 alpine and neighbouring Eastern-European countries will be gathering and presenting their products and technology, strongly wishes to be associated to this important movement in favour of winter sports activities. “Prowinter 09 along with all our key partners are closely watching the recent projects of FIS and I.O.C. in favour of youngsters and we strongly support the new momentum which should in the long term help the entire ski business and all the people living from winter sports in our mountains,” explained Mrs. Evi Götsch, ‘Project Manager’ of ‘Prowinter 09’.
“We plan to bring our own contribution to that important operation and wish to organise an important conference about the FIS ‘Bring Kids Back to Snow’ campaign. Along with our regional partners, we wish to confirm our commitment to that operation and hope to present a series of concrete solutions on this subject which directly concerns all the persons living and working in our mountains. Details of our plans will be presented soon,” also added Mrs. Götsch.

Prowinter 09 soutient la campagne de la FIS ‘Ramener les Enfants à la Neige’
‘Prowinter 09’, La Foire Internationale des Services et de Location de Matériel de Sports d’Hiver qui se tiendra pour la 9ème fois de son histoire du 15 au 17 avril 2009 dans les bâtiments de la ‘Fiera de Bolzano’ prévoit d’organiser sous la haute autorité de la Fédération Internationale de Ski (FIS) une importante discussion avec certains de leurs partenaires pour promouvoir la pratique du ski et des sports d’hiver auprès des plus jeunes générations. Des représentants de grandes régions de skis, de producteurs de matériel de sport d’hiver et de sociétés de remontées mécaniques seront ainsi invités à venir discuter de leur vision des choses dans les bâtiments de la Foire Internationale en avril prochain.
Voici deux ans, le Président de la FIS, M. Gian Franco Kasper, a pris l’initiative de lancer les bases d’une intense campagne de promotion pour les sports de neige auprès des plus jeunes qui ne se sentent plus aussi attirés que leurs aînés par la pratique de ski ou de snowboard. M. Kasper a notamment invité les parties concernées par ces activités – aussi bien les grands médias que les producteurs de matériel de sports d’hiver, les stations de ski, les différentes fédérations nationales – à lancer une campagne commune pour valoriser les sports de neige auprès des familles, des écoles, des clubs de ski et d’autres partenaires potentiels.
Dans de nombreux pays, les traditionnelles ‘semaines de neige’ organisées par les écoles n’ont ainsi plus été reconduites ces dernières années, provoquant indirectement la perte de dizaines, voire de centaines de milliers de jeunes pratiquants potentiels qui se sont détournés des sports de neige pour s’intéresser à d’autres activités ludiques pas forcément pratiquées en pleine nature comme le ski.
Les premiers résultats de cette campagne soutenue par la FIS seront examinés à la fin du mois de mai lors des prochaines réunions des membres de la FIS à Dubrovnik, en Croatie. La nomination de M. Kasper à la tête de la Commission de Coordination des prochains ‘Jeux Olympiques d’Hiver de la jeunesse’ prévus en 2012 à Innsbruck renforcera par ailleurs la position de la FIS dans sa démarche de promotion des sports d’hiver pour les plus jeunes. « Je suis content d’avoir été associé à l’organisation de ces premiers ‘Jeux d’Hiver pour la Jeunesse’ qui contribueront à soutenir la campagne ‘Bring Kids Back to Snow’ lancée par la FIS, » a notamment déclaré récemment le Président Kasper, également membre du Comité International Olympique, lors d’une visite à Innsbruck en compagnie du Président du C.I.O., M. Jacques Rogge.
La direction de la Foire Internationale des Services et de Location de Matériel de Sports d’Hiver de Bolzano, où devraient se réunir à nouveau plus de 200 exposants originaires d’une quinzaine de pays des Alpes et des environs tient à s’associer à cet important mouvement qui ne peut que favoriser le marché international des sports d’hiver.
« La Foire de Bolzano comme tous nos partenaires suit de près les récents projets de la FIS et du C.I.O. relatifs à la jeunesse et tient à apporter sa pierre à cet important édifice que représente la promotion des sports d’hiver auprès des jeunes du monde entier, notamment celle vivant dans nos montagnes » déclarait à ce sujet Mme. Evi Götsch, ‘Project Manager’ de ‘Prowinter 2009.
« Nous prévoyons donc d’organiser un important séminaire en avril prochain lors de la prochaine édition de ‘Prowinter’ à ce sujet pour soutenir cette campagne promotionnelle ‘Bring Kids back to Snow’ de la FIS. Nous voulons contribuer avec nos partenaires régionaux à cette initiative de la FIS qui concerne tout ceux qui vivent des sports de neige dans les montagnes.
