Fiera Bolzano S.p.A./Messe Bozen AG has positioned itself as an exhibition center locale for the entire Alpine region. In so doing, the Exhibition Center views itself as the single most important contact exchange between companies from the German-speaking world and Italy. The city of Bolzano can look back on a tradition of tradeshows and fairs that dates back for centuries. The first evidence of trade with other Italian and foreign Alpine regions goes back to the year 1070. The geographical position of the city and the bridge function between Northern and Southern Europe that it has taken on have always required good trade, economic, and cultural relations with neighboring lands. The first tradeshow of modern times – the Mustermesse, or Trade Fair – took place in Bolzano in 1948. Fiera Bolzano / Messe Bozen has been a joint-stock company since January 1, 2003. It organizes all important events under its own direction.

The Exhibition Center, with its 25,000 square meters (270,000 square feet) of covered exhibition space and 10,000 square meters (110,000 square feet) of open space (added to which are an existing additional 5,000 square meters / 54,000 square feet in the “Welle” multipurpose hall that belong to the complex), as well as the Service Center are without a doubt the new heart of the industry and trade zone in Bolzano. The new Exhibition Center is a complex infrastructure for modern requirements in the area of exhibitions, conferences, and entertainment.
The visitor parking lot with space for 800 cars is located on the roof of the single, large-scale, and dividable pavilion, while an additional 500 parking places are reserved for exhibitors in the subterranean parking garage alongside the Exhibition Center. The main entrance to the Exhibition Center is located at "Piazza Fiera 1” near the intersection of via Marco Polo and via Buozzi.
Fiera Bolzano/Messe Bozen is a member of the UFI (Union des Foires Internationales) www.ufinet.org, the AEFI (Associazione Esposizioni e Fiere Italiane) www.aefi.it and the CEFA (Central European Fair Alliance) www.cefa.biz, an organization that unites numerous Central European tradeshow companies; in addition, it holds observer status in the ranks of the AMA (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Messen Austria) www.messen-austria.at, the union of Austrian exhibition centers.
The tradeshows in Bolzano are concentrated upon topics of the Alpine economy such as road construction, tourism and the hospitality industry, agriculture, apple growing, winter sports, alpine technologies and energy. With the development of tradeshow topics, Fiera Bolzano/Messe Bozen relies upon distinctive areas of competence from the province of Trentino/South Tyrol.
